TV mounting in North Las Vegas: older walls

TV mounting in North Las Vegas is quick on a newer wall and more careful on an older one. In houses near the original core, many built between the 1950s and 1970s, walls have been patched, paneled or re-covered over the years, and stud spacing does not always follow the modern 16-inch pattern. We locate framing with a scanner and confirm it with a small test hole hidden where the wall plate will sit.

Older homes also tend to have fewer outlets. If the only receptacle on the TV wall is near the floor at one end, an in-wall power kit can bring power up behind the screen from it. If your house is from 1965 to 1973, ask us to check for aluminum branch wiring before anything is tied into that circuit.

New builds in Aliante and Craig Ranch

In homes from the 2000s and later, the family room wall is usually wood studs with half-inch drywall, often with a cable outlet already in place. The work is about height, bracket type and keeping the screen out of glare from the sliding door. A tilting bracket handles most glare; a full-motion arm helps when the TV needs to turn toward the kitchen. If the screen faces a slider, check the glare at the hour you usually watch, which saves moving the mount later.

Before drilling, we check the bay for wire runs the builder stapled to the studs. Brackets go into two studs where possible, with lag bolts sized for the TV's weight rather than the short screws some kits include.

Cables, outlets and city permits

Low-voltage cables such as HDMI, network and speaker wire can run inside the wall through brush plates. The TV's power cord cannot; it needs a listed in-wall power kit. A brand-new outlet with its own wire run needs an electrical permit from the city's Building Safety Division, which we flag at the first visit.

Masonry and exterior walls are the exceptions. Block and brick cannot be fished like a stud wall, so cables there run in a surface channel painted to match.

What TV mounting costs in North Las Vegas

Screens up to 55 inches usually cost $89 to $149 to mount, and 65 to 75 inches $109 to $199. Mounting over a fireplace or into stone or tile runs $199 to $319, and an in-wall cable and power kit adds $109 to $229.

What moves the price: wall type, how high the screen goes, full-motion arms, soundbar brackets and whether cables are hidden. Text a picture of the wall and the TV's model label to (702) 553-1671 for a range. Before we drill, you approve a written, itemized price, and we vacuum up the dust and take the packaging when we leave.
