Focus Property Group's big southwest plan

Mountains Edge is a master-planned community in the unincorporated town of Enterprise, and construction began in February 2004 under Focus Property Group. A handyman in Mountains Edge works mostly in houses that are about two decades old or newer, and PrimeFix covers every neighborhood here, around the clock.

The original plan called for 14,500 homes in more than 22 neighborhoods, and about 12,500 were built by the end of 2025. Starting in 2007, it ranked as the top-selling master-planned community in the United States for two straight years. The community uses ZIPs 89178 and 89139. Its parks include Exploration Peak Park, a county park of nearly 80 acres on Buffalo Drive with trails up the peak, plus Nathaniel Jones, Paiute and Mountains Edge Regional parks.

Family homes, family projects

With five elementary schools, a middle school and a charter campus inside the community, Mountains Edge is built around families. That shapes the job list: childproofing with cabinet locks, outlet covers and anchored furniture, furniture assembly for bunk beds and desks, and TV mounting high enough to stay out of small hands' reach.

Pets are part of the picture too. A doggie door in a slider panel or an exterior wall saves a lot of getting up, but the opening must be sealed well, because Las Vegas topped 110°F on 36 days in 2024. We also install appliances when owners upgrade from the builder's set. Furniture assembly also covers shelving units and storage cabinets for the garage.

Two layers of approval for exterior work

Mountains Edge runs on a master association plus neighborhood sub-associations. For design review, the order matters: the sub-association signs off first, and the master association will not approve an application without that letter. Its checklists cover items like patio covers, fences and walls, landscaping, outdoor kitchens and home security features.

Work inside the house is normally not part of that process. When a permit is needed, it comes from Clark County, since Enterprise is unincorporated.

Mountains Edge questions.

  • Yes, every neighborhood in 89178 and 89139, from the streets around Exploration Peak Park to the newest sections still being built.

  • Usually, yes. Some bedrooms are prewired for a fan; others have a light box we can swap for a fan-rated one. If there is no box at all, we run power from a nearby switch where the framing allows, and flag it if that needs a county permit.

  • Cabinet and drawer latches, outlet covers, door knob covers, stair and doorway gates, and anti-tip anchors for dressers, bookcases and TVs. At the top of stairs we screw gates into studs, since pressure-mounted gates are not meant for that spot.

  • If it changes the outside of the house, assume yes. Get the sub-association letter first, then the master approval, and we install once both are in hand. A slider insert changes less of the exterior than cutting a wall.
