Handyman in Sun City Aliante

Del Webb built Sun City Aliante between 2003 and 2008 as an age-restricted, 55-plus community inside the larger Aliante master plan. Its 2,028 single-family homes range from about 1,155 to 2,105 square feet, with two bathrooms and an attached two-car garage in each plan. Our work as a handyman in Sun City Aliante is mostly about helping those houses suit the people living in them now.

The clubhouse, with its indoor lap pool, fitness center, ballroom and hobby studios, keeps a lot of daily life inside the community. The houses themselves are now 18 to 23 years old, which is about when original faucets, toilet parts, caulk and light fixtures start to wear out together.

With only two bathrooms in every plan, each one has to work well. A shower remodel that swaps a tub for a low-entry shower with a fold-down seat is one of the most useful changes in a home like this. A grab bar has to hold a falling adult, so we fasten it to framing, solid blocking or anchors rated for that load, never to bare drywall.

Smaller changes add up too. Lever handles on faucets and doors are easier on stiff hands than round knobs, and lighting installation along a hallway makes the trip to the bathroom at night safer. Slip resistance matters on bathroom floors, so tile installation here is a good time to pick a textured tile instead of a polished one.

Not every job is a repair. Furniture assembly for a new recliner or bookcase, TV mounting at a height that works from a chair, and appliance installation when a washer or range is replaced are all jobs we take on. Ceiling fan installation in a bedroom or office also makes summer easier, when Las Vegas sees about ten days a year at 110°F or above.
