From a failed 1980s project to a 1990s hillside community
Seven Hills had a false start. A community on this land was first proposed in the mid-1980s by Japan-based Cosmo World, and that project was cancelled in 1991 when the company went bankrupt. Forest City Enterprises bought the site in 1993 with Canadian developer Terry Johnston, American Nevada Corporation joined as development manager in January 1996, and work was underway by that April. For a handyman in Seven Hills, the takeaway is simple: these houses went up from the late 1990s on.
The city's master plan map puts Seven Hills at about 1,285 acres, half a mile east of Henderson Executive Airport. Its golf course opened in 1997 as Rio Secco, a Rees Jones design, and was renamed Serket Golf Club in 2025. Seven Hills also has a master homeowners association, plus neighborhood associations such as Capistrano at Seven Hills.
